Meet the experts: Laura Ludlow, DiscovHer

Laura Ludlow launched DiscovHer as a way of bringing together a community of likeminded women to support, encourage and grow with one another. What's totally refreshing about this group is that it's about women (not Mums-gangs, tribes or girl bosses) - it's about women - their creativity, diversity and ability to support one another.

What inspired you to do what you do?

I became inspired on many dog walks whilst I had very young children. I wanted to have a business that lived in my computer with minimal fixed costs and no huge rents and business rates. I wanted something that would mean I could make money all year and enjoy my children as well.

What ritual helps you support your vision?

Walking. For me I find it very grounding. I love to walk - I don’t mind about the weather. A good walk clears my head, keeps me sane and means I don’t have to work as hard in the gym!

What three tips would you give for someone looking to start something new?

Research. And then more research and just to make sure - research. Whether thats other businesses doing the same or your idea client - you need to check and keep checking that you have covered all angles.
